We are excited to bring aboard Dr Jameel Kanji, OD, MSc. Welcome to the Regal Eye Care team! Attached is his biography highlighting his academic career and accomplishments.
Dr. Kanji practices full-scope optometry, and provides eye care to patients of all ages. He earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Neuroscience from McGill University, after which he completed a Doctor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry (NECO) in Boston. Dr. Kanji, has done a residency in pediatric optometry, and has gained experience working at various well-known Boston medical institutions, including Tufts Medical Center, Boston Medical Center and Perkins School for the Blind. He has also earned a research-based Masters of Science in Vision Science, which took him to Wenzhou, China in order to study higher-order vision in patients with strokes.
Recently, he has been engaged with concussion research in children and adolescents, by studying the visual consequences that result from concussions. Dr. Kanji was selected as a recipient of the 2016 Terrance N. Ingraham Pediatric Optometry Residency Award by the American Optometric Foundation, which honors his commitment and service to the field of pediatric optometry.
Dr. Kanji has a passion for teaching and has enjoyed opportunities teaching advanced optometric techniques at the New England College of Optometry. He has also been active in community outreach, by providing voluntary eye care services to children at schools and various community events.
Some of Dr. Kanji’s hobbies and interests outside of eye care include running, travelling, ice hockey, and drawing.
